Digital Sewing Pattern (Sizes 0-18, B-cup and sizes 12-30, D-cup)

The Monarch Jacket sewing pattern is a boxy jacket designed for thick stable knits like ponte and scuba. This slightly cropped cardigan-style jacket has wrist-length raglan sleeves and a bomber-inspired collar.

Optional snaps provide closure at the center front. The Monarch Jacket has several inches of positive ease through the bodice and is fitted through the lower sleeve.

The D-cup version of this pattern features bust darts, while the B-cup version does not.

This is a sewing pattern intended to be used by the home sewist, not a finished garment.

Well suited for the beginner sewist who has some experience sewing with stable knit fabrics.

Stable knit fabrics with at least 20% stretch are recommended. The collar of the Monarch Jacket should be sewn using a knit fabric with at least 40% stretch. Ribbing can be used for the collar if desired.
Ponte, French terry, double knit, stretch fleece, neoprene, and scuba are suitable for the Monarch Jacket. Fabrics weighing between 9 and 14 ounces per square yard are recommended.

Great pattern. Raglan sleeves are great for me because I have narrow shoulders; the Monarch’s sleeves pattern pieces fit perfectly. This was my first version years ago, but I’m sharing since it’s modified. It may give you some ideas of how to get more mileage out of this pattern.

I simplified mine since my fabric (a quilted-look low-stretch knit) was a bit bulky. I left off the sleeve cuffs and the bottom band. Then, I used a big sew-on snap (covered by a big button I found in my button box) only at the neckline instead of the visible snaps. So, this is a bit of a swing style. Super easy to wear.

The Monarch Jacket is a versatile style. The larger size band comes in a D cup, which I appreciate. The sewing is straight forward and the instructions are thorough. I pattern runs true to size chart without excessive ease.

This jacket was made with a heavy weight cotton spandex with 4 way stretch and sewed up well. I have also made the jacket in a heavier weight jacquard knit that has a completely different look.

I will definitely make this pattern again.

Beautiful pattern, timeless. The tutorial is clear, fit is great. I will make more in the future.
The PDF pattern in color would be nice, but it's not a must.
