Weaving the Spiral Heart (Pine Needle Weaving + Cacao Ceremony)

Help us honor Indigenous Peoples Day. In this circle, Naiya Sarah will first lead us in a traditional cacao ceremony and then you'll learn how to use coil basketry techniques to make a small pine needle basket.

We'll cover the origins of pine needle coil basketry and the basics of pine needle foraging. I will demonstrate preparing the needles, creating the spiral, building the walls of the basket, and finishing the basket.

Many different baskets will be displayed to show how to create lids, handles, etc. to show students how they can continue to take the craft to the next level. Workshop fee includes all materials.
